The Cosmic Christmas Rev 12:10-11

Revelation 12:10
10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

Again, this reiterates that it was at the birth of Christ that Satan was cast down. It was at this point where John writes that “Now the salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come.” How? Because the accuser has been thrown down to earth.

Going back to Job, we see that Satan could travel back and forth from heaven to earth as he pleased. Now we find that he has been cast out of Heaven which leads to this question.

What is the effect of Satan being thrown down to earth?

What we’re seeing is a binding of Satan. He is chained to the earth. The result is that he no longer has access to heaven; and this means what? If we look at the end of verse 10 we see that he is accusing day and night before God.

Who is he accusing?

People.

By being bound to earth, he can no longer go before God and accuse people of sin. With this binding he has no power to accuse you or I before God. What else changes? If he no longer has access to Heaven, he no longer knows what God is doing. He is now blind to all that is going on in the Kingdom of God.

In Matthew 12:29 Jesus says this, “Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.” This is exactly what has been done to Satan. He has been bound to earth so that his house can be plundered. What is to be plundered?

People.

Satan is now bound so that the Kingdom of God can plunder his house. So that people can be taken from him and given to the Kingdom. How do we do this?

Revelation 12:11
They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

This is my favorite verse in all of the Bible. When Jesus was born, the shift in Heaven and on earth made us victorious in the war we fight every day. Because of the birth, death, resurrection, and ascension there is nothing Satan can do against us when we walk with Christ. By Jesus setting foot on earth in the flesh, we won the war. It was here that I found healing of decades of depression and anxiety. Even when I'm at my worst, there is nothing that can be done to me that isn't overcome by Christ.

We plunder Satan's house by the blood of the Lamb; by the Gospel, and we plunder his house by the word of our testimony. What is our testimony? It's what we've overcome by Christ's resurrection. It's what we've overcome by Christ in us. This is what we are called to do. This is the will of God.
